What Can I Teach You?

by Chris Morris on June 24, 2008

One thing that I truly enjoy is helping other people move forward, whether in business or life in general, I really feel great about helping other people. I have had the privilege of seeing the power of influence first hand and I am going to ask you specifically…What can I teach you?

I was going to do a survey for this, but surveys can be kind of boring, plus, I love being in the mix of things and really interacting with everyone so I am not sending out a survey, instead, you’re going to be interacting with me and the rest of the group here on the blog.

The idea here is to let us know what you’re struggling with and where you’re at in terms of a business or website online. I’d like to know because I don’t do any type of coaching..at least not right now, and I’d like to get my feet wet and at the same time continue making money doing what I love to do.

So here’s the deal, let me know what I can teach you or what you need help with, and I will do my best to give you ideas and direction you could take to keep moving forward. It doesn’t have to be about internet marketing or affiliate marketing, it can be anything, just don’t be afraid to ask questions.

Sounds Like Fun!

Focus, focus, focus! with the barrage of email/information coming at me, how do I function?

Not very well right now!

Bob June 25, 2008 at 12:19 am

I have been studying internet marketing for about 6 months now> I have bought a couple of programs. But I still am not sure where to start. Do I by a list? Create a website? I have several lens on squidoo. I have bloged. But I have driven no traffic.

I have tried the reatil end and built a website that I sell safety security and self defense items. Noo traffic. I have tried the ebay gig and ebay made more money then I did.

I am at my wits end. I know that people are making money at this but I am missing it. What do you advise?

I think that I need a coach. Or someone who can tell me what to do next. Someone who can give me hands on knowledge.

What advise do you have for me?

Thanks for listening,
Bob

Chris – Thanks for asking! I have multiple domains, email accounts and auto-responder systems BUT – All I seem to do via my website is redirect to other peoples websites. I have followed Your “Discover Cpanel” and it is great but uploading graphics, using FTP, Meta-tags, etc. etc. etc. is still I have got to say a mystery and therfore a No-Go area to me. Kindest Regards – Graham Price “The Sales Guy”

Hey Bob,

Boy do I hear ya! Focus is so key because we’ve all got our inboxes flooded with offers and hype everyday don’t we?

I got you on this one..don’t worry, let’s see what we come up with here and see how I can help everyone at once.

If I can create something that helps more than one person at the same time then that’s perfect, if not, then I will help you out individually with focus.

Hi Chris -

I started online 2 months ago. I have 2 sites and several blogs.
My sites have gone through the roof on Google, (not 100% sure why as I really am a newbie!), but I have lots of nr 1 positions and double digit 1st pages on Google.

However, I don’t have 1 single person that has signed up to my list – not 1.

I do have auto responders in place and I have unique relevant articles on my blogs, of which one has a PR2 and one has a PR3.

I have prepared pdfs with links for viral marketing and I have text links on my blogs and data feeds etc. BUT – I don’t know how to create my own products as I initially use plr.

Any ideas that can help? (I know it’s early days, so I am prepared to carry on like this for a while). Cheers!

Chris Morris June 25, 2008 at 1:00 am

Hey Bob,

Ok I hear ya loud and clear, I played in the eBay game for a bit too and luckily I broke even and didn’t break the bank playing it.

You said you have a website with safety and security as the niche, can you drop a url for us to check out? ;-)

As for coaching, dude, I’d love to help out personally but time is so tight right now for me, I have 5 kids as you know and I’d love to do a coaching class.

I have one better, one of my teachers has coaching coming up, it’s not cheap..well, it is if you consider the experience you walk away with in return, but Bob Jenkins is holding a very special workshop and I’m also hoping to attend.

If you want more information on that, just email me or post here and I will get that over to you.

Thanks for the question, I am going to let this run a while before I get my knuckles dirty!

Hey “The Sales Guy”,

You mean to tell me you watched my videos and they didn’t help? :)

Ok so uploading graphics, using FTP, Meta-tags is holding you back…

I just got done helping out another Discover Cpanel guy figure this out for him, I actually created a special one on one type of video for him but really it’s no different than my DCP videos other than I called him by name in the video…maybe that’s all it takes..lol.

No seriously, I can do this a couple ways bud, I can get you on the phone and we can walk through this together, or I can do a video showing you step by step how it’s done…choice is yours.

Let me know.

Chris,

First of all thank you for your help as you have already been for me whether you realized it or not. I to do not have a list yet, so even though I have built a website, created a product and have set up an autoresponder I have not been successful.

For the 3 previous postings, all I can say is that the original mistake I was making was trying to listen to every IM/internet guru out there. That is impossible to do as then you will feel overwhelmed and on information overload which then puts you at a complete standstill. You need to choose just a couple of the Internet Guru’s that you believe in and stay with just them. It is almost impossible to learn without the help from someone who has been through this already.

With that being said, you have to be prepared to pay your dues and to stick with it as becoming successful will not happen overnight.

Sorry Chris, back to your original question I have your package discover Cpanel and thought it was excellent, however, needs to go more in depth, I actually thought about doing that myself as another product then decided that was not the right thing to do and am asking you to now create discover cpanel 2 that will answer more questions on how to do things yourself. One thing that any newbie must remember is they will not be successful if have to depend on everyone and you do not know how to do it yourself. Now I have no problem outsourcing and as a matter of fact I am preparing to do that myself, but first not only know how to do something but the why as well.

Thank you for allowing me to contribute my thoughts.

Regards,
Richard Tunison (Just A Regular Guy)

Chris Morris June 25, 2008 at 1:11 am

Hey Seb,

Sounds to me like you’re on the right track buddy, if you’re getting indexed and raked highly then you’re on the right track.

Now, I don’t know what keywords you’re being ranked for and that also matters to, I can get ranked for “chris morris arizona internet marketer” I’m sure very
easily and have no competition for the keyword…you see what I’m saying?

But regardless, Google loves blogs..period. My good buddy Mike Paetzold makes his living from a blog. You need answers on Wordpress and Blogging, Mike is the guy I go to.

Information products are so easy to do, I was about to create a video today on the topic actually and I got too darn busy to do it.

I also have a couple of projects that I am considering creating, probably a home study course on creating information products on the fly and a start to finish aspect.

I’m very good at coming up with product ideas, it’s very simple to do, the hardest part of it really is overcoming your own objections to doing it.

Most people think that they are not experts in anything and do not see value in themselves and therefore don’t take that first step towards their dream, instead, sit there and keep spinning in circles.

I tell you what, Bob and I have something we’re doing very soon too that may be of use to you, it’s based on a similar theme of getting going and creating your first product etc, but you’re going to have the advantage of working with both Bob and I on it.

Well keep you posted on that as well.

Chris,
I have enjoyed your emails over the past several months. You put out some really great information. My biggest struggle is like so many others is driving traffic to my sites. I have a reteil website, an ebay store, an ebook website, an auction search site, a business start-up and hosting site, and a blog. Where to start on a shoe string budget is the question for me.
Thanks for the offer to help us newbies out.

Chris Morris June 25, 2008 at 1:22 am

Hey Richard,

Chris Morris here (Just A Regular Guy too) :)

You hit it right on the head buddy, I mean there is so much hype and noise out there that heck, even I can get distracted sometimes.

I also appreciate you sharing that with me, as you know, I was at the JVAlert seminar and got to meet some more of the Discover Cpanel members and I was absolutely thrilled.

I would love to do a Discover Cpanel 2, shoot, give me some topics you want hit dude. I spoke with Bob on this as a matter of fact and I have no problem getting further in depth on this with you guys…you just need to let me know and I will see what I can do for ya!

Sounds like we need to be thinking about getting some list building experts together and creating a cool project out of that along with my idea for creating info products and you guys should be rockin’.

Let me do some chattin’ guys, I got a lot of expert buddies that love doing this kinda stuff and I bet I can get someone on a teleseminar or something and get your guys question answered live by an expert.

How’s that sound?

Chris

Chris Morris June 25, 2008 at 1:30 am

Hey Kevin,

Traffic is pretty key isn’t it, but what you’re really looking for is targeted traffic. Traffic related to your offer. I’m not sure how you’re going about doing this but here are several ways to approach getting traffic. Some free and some paid.

1. Articles (Free)
2. Pay Per Click (Not So Free) :-)
3. Ezine Advertising (Paid)
4. Forum Signatures (Free)
5. Press Releases (Free / Paid)

Look, this is no means a complete list, I don’t know what you’ve tried, depending on the niche, you could do things like social bookmarking, create targeted blogs and get some original content posted there and drive traffic to another page.

You should be collecting leads every step of the way, don’t let a lead slip away from you because they’re going to become the life blood of your business.

Keep em coming guys!

I think it’s dinner time, I need a break for a while but keep posting and checking back, I will keep posting as long as you guys keep asking.

Chris

Richard Tunison June 25, 2008 at 1:47 am

Chris,
Sounds awesome would love to listen in on a teleseminar for list building. I have done quite abit of reading on the topic already, however, like I stated on your Discover Cpanel blog, I learn better by using multiple senses not just reading. That is why I loved your package so much as listening, watching and reading combined. I do not know about everyone else, but I know I do better long term using multiple techniques for learning.
Take care and always a pleasure.
Richard Tunison (Just A Regular Guy)

Chris Morris June 25, 2008 at 3:51 am

I think it’s about time I do a teleseminar guys, I’m not sure when I can schedule a call with anyone, we’ve all got schedules that need to be taken into account but I think it’s a great idea because it will give you guys instant answers to your questions from my top marketing buddies who know this stuff inside out. Not that I don’t but I love learning this along the way with you guys.

Keep em coming guys, remember, no question is a bad question and I will be sure to hit them all.

George Farrell June 25, 2008 at 4:57 pm

Hi Chris,
As a fellow Arizonan (Maricopa to exact) I can attest to the blessings of a good air conditioner! Not only for the house, but your car, too!

What I want to know is how to keep up with everything. Do you just work ALL the time? Will the fun times come later?

With my JOB and trying to do Internet marketing for different sites, it has become a whirlwind of activity in my life. Not to mention all the things I do for my city and church, there is just not enough time!

I have trouble saying no, so do you have any scheduling tips?

One other area that I can use help in would be re-writing PLR, are there any good tools for that?

Dean Forrest June 25, 2008 at 6:09 pm

I am having many of the struggles others are commenting on. The big one is focus. Information overload is a very real problem for me. The second most difficult for me is writing e-mails to send. Any help will be appreciated.

Chris Morris June 25, 2008 at 8:46 pm

Hey Joan,

That’s what Discover Cpanel is all about, did you already order the video package?

Where are you having troubles?

Chris

Chris Morris June 25, 2008 at 8:48 pm

Hey Jerry,

Be patient, I ordered my copy of the 7 Figure Secret Manuscript as well even though I own the full home study course ( bought it because it was condensed ) and mine arrived just a day or two ago.

If you’re out of the country then it may take a bit longer to reach you but it’s very much worth the wait!

Chris

Chris Morris June 25, 2008 at 8:56 pm

Hi George,

We’ll have to get together sometime buddy, it’s great to know I’ve got buddies here in Arizona. Harris Fellman is in Scottsdale and I can’t even get an invite…go figure…lol.

Anyhow, to get to your questions:

Do I work all the time? Heck yeah! I’m a father of 5 dude :-) it’s a non stop job…lol.

Yeah, it gets better man I promise ya, but you gotta work hard at this George, we’re in a tough economic time right now and people are clinging to their money a lot tighter right now.

Not to say this is not the right business, because it is…Heck, this is what I love doing and there is not JOB out there that gives me the happiness this one does.

As for time management, well you know it wasn’t always easy and I can’t say that I’m an expert in it either, I just kinda got thrown into it because of what I love to do and trying to manage my kids and family and work too.

I basically work when I can George, my family comes first, but I do take time off during the day and walk away, I’d go bonkers if I didn’t…lol.

Set aside a certain time during the day to get work done…even a few hours but make them solid work hours and then the rest of the day can be for you.

You’d be surprised what you can accomplish in a few hours if you’ve got things organized and know what you need to do.

Try mind mapping things out, that’s something Bob Jenkins taught me and if you’re super disorganized like me, that will definitely help!

Chris

Chris Morris June 25, 2008 at 9:07 pm

Hey Dean,

Information overload is a killer, I’ve said it before but you should pick a couple people that you believe are solid and you can learn from and turn the rest off.

I don’t mean that you can’t learn from the others, but you gotta stay focused and really pay attention to you moving forward.

I picked out one guy who I really aspired to be like and I followed everything that he did and if he said jump on something boy did I.

I’m not saying you need to buy everything that the person sends out to you but I will tell you that for me, the turning point for me was Butterfly Marketing, I learned so much and got a business in a box.

As for sending emails, I assume you have an autoresponder and a list first right?

Email copy is just as important as sales letter copy. If they don’t get grabbed quickly in the email, you’ve lost them.

Tell stories…People LOVE stories!

Hello Chris: I have a question, How do i set up a ebook website to sell ebooks from? i have a website allready but it is a gift store.I need to know if i need to set up a seperate website for the ebooks i want to sell? Take a look at my website if you want. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Beverly

Mildred June 26, 2008 at 3:06 pm

Hi,
Where do I go in the cPanel to add my Affiliate ID #?

Chris Morris June 26, 2008 at 9:22 pm

Hi Beverly,

Looks like your website is an affiliate site, is that correct?

I noticed that your images are not showing which would result in a lack of conversions. People like to see what they’re buying in a physical form.

That’s why even though we sell digital downloads, we have box shots of physical products to represent them.

As for your ebook idea, are you trying to sell a number of ebooks from one website? I’m not sure that I would recommend that. What I would do instead, is hire a GhostWriter if you’re not good at writing like me ;-) and get them to write the book for you.

There is nothing wrong with outsourcing the work. I do that as well, I have a project that I’d like to complete and I am not sure if I have the time to commit to doing it so I may outsource the work even though I know the material backwards.

You can also grab PLR ( Private Label Rights ) products and slap your name on it and sell those. I recommend that you have your own product Beverly, you will see a huge difference in selling someone else’s product vs. your own even though you may be using PLR.

People will automatically think you’re the expert when you have your own product online, it just comes with the territory, so don’t be afraid to use PLR and change the graphics to something more unique, and then you can even change the title of the product so that you stand out as something different even though you may be selling the same product. This is done all the time.

There is no use re-inventing the wheel Beverly, there is only so many ways you can say the same thing. Many marketers will simply take an existing idea and change it a bit, slap a new name on it and now they’re the expert.

Again, there is nothing wrong with that because although the information may be the same or similar to another product, as long as you’re spinning it differently and / or putting your own tips and techniques into it, you will be fine.

The reason that works is because there are too many people online and too many more coming online every day. There is NO way that we can reach everyone and so there is plenty of room for everyone to sell the same information online.

I hope this helps you Beverly!

Chris Morris June 26, 2008 at 9:24 pm

Hey Mildred,

Just go to http://www.discovercpanel.com and look for the members login link in the upper right hand corner.

Use your email and password you used to register on the site with and inside you will see a link that says referral or something similar, but I think even in your profile you will find your affiliate id.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for all your help in answering my questions. Thanks to you I now have a newsletter box for my subscribers.

Stuart December 4, 2008 at 6:05 pm

Hi Chris,
Could you advise me on how I can put product reviews on my blog. As you can see I have them on my home page, but I had them on the Reviews page but the problem is I dont want the same text on both the home page and the review page. I think you advised me that I dont really need a Reviews page, since its all on the Home page.

The problem I’m concerned with is what will happen when I have 20 or products on the home page, it will get too big for folk to see. Can’t Wordpress categorize all the posts say after 3 product reviews so my customers can find all my reviews. I find blogs much harder to understand than static web pages.

Your advice will be much appreciated

Chris, I am so happy for you. I first remember you from whenyou wentoVegas
(Ithink)and you dropped your computer and had to use an old one (that barely worked)
and your house was sold and you had to find a new place to live and your wife’s
grandmother was very ill and you were selling every thing you could possibly sell. I think I sent you an email telling you I would have bought something, but I wouldn’t have known what to do with it. To bring things up to date I got myself in hock (cr. card) for a little over 70.000. And I still
won’t give up. My son thinks it is all scheme. But if I live long enough I’m going to try and prove it to him.
