Chris – it is list building….

Chris Morris August 3, 2009 at 7:31 pm

@Erin – That’s a great question! PLR have rights that should allow you to not only just rename the files, but will allow you to rename the entire product and even change the format etc.

Making PLR available for people to purchase is going to require you to:

1. Have a website (domain + hosting)
2. Two (2) pages ( Index & Thank You )
(I’d recommend a membership site script)
3. Autoresponder
4.Payment Processor

That’s the basics of what I would recommend you have. You don’t need to have a membership site script but it’s highly recommended that you do.

Also, you don’t need to have an autoresponder either but building your list and having a list to continuously market to is highly advisable.

If you have my DiscoverCpanel.com course then you can watch those videos for more information on this type of information.

If not, it’s simple to set up a salespage and thank you page (to put your download link on).

You can use any html editor, there are free and paid versions, Here is a free one called Kompozer http://kompozer.net/

You would just create your thank you page and name it something that someone can’t easily guess and edit it using Kompozer and simply add the html link to the file on your server.

For example, if you were selling an ebook called 7MinutesTo6Figures.pdf and your site was mysite.com and you put the secret thank you page in a folder called /secretdownload then your link would look like this:

http://www.mysite.com/secretdownload/7MinutesTo6Figures.pdf

And then just add that link into the page as the download link to the PDF.

Hope that made sense!

Product Creation/Content creation.

Content is needed to keep a blog alive and your own product is almost a must.

Chris Morris August 3, 2009 at 8:52 pm

@Bob Marconi – Cool, I’m actually very excited to release this and it’s my goal to make sure nothing is left to chance and I provide exactly what you need to easily create high value information products!

I am in the process of setting up my first Blog and I am struggling with what name to call it. Does anyone else ever have this issue and if they do, how do they resolve it?

Thanks,
Carl

NICE to MEET someone like you who can TEACH us ALL about Online marketing, I just put up my 1st blog and signed up on Squidoo Thanks to Bob The TEACHER!

Pravesh August 3, 2009 at 9:12 pm

The main problem I am facing is to get started. I am also finding problem in creating effective and profit generating product. I had also not understand clearly about web hosting and domain creation. The other important problem is that I did not understand about money transaction system in internet.I am an Indian. Thus my main problem is to get started in the internet.

Matches Malone August 3, 2009 at 9:49 pm

This may or may not be one of the choices, however, I don’t necessarily know that I know what I’m selling, if anything. Does that make sense?

Chris Morris August 3, 2009 at 9:59 pm

@Carl – I would recommend using yourname.com brand your name unless you are branding a different identity already.

@William Combs – Congrats on signing up with Squidoo Secrets! And it’s my pleasure to be able to teach you guys!

@Pravesh – Ok, I would recommend taking my DiscoverCpanel.com course for starters so you can learn about hosting, domain names and managing your websites.

Accepting money for your products or services is fairly painless as well, you’d just need an account on Paypal.com or Clickbank.com to begin taking payments for your transactions. Once you establish yourself, you can move up to a full blown merchant account.

@Matches Malone – So you’re having a hard time trying to figure out what niche you want to break in to? Sure, that is something that I would be able to help you with as well.

Jon Lake (UK) August 3, 2009 at 10:59 pm

Hi Chris,

I have been online for about a year now with a limited amount of success.
My number one frustration without any doubt is getting traffic.

Regards

Jon Lake

Alan August 3, 2009 at 11:25 pm

Hi Chris, – website conversion

I published my SWOT analysis Blog at http://SWOTAnalysisTemplate.com on 6-May-09 and it ranked google page#1 since after 1st week, I think the traffic is good ( about 4500 unique visitors in July09)
My biggest fraustration is not able to make money from it.

Matches Malone August 3, 2009 at 11:37 pm

I don’t believe that I need to ‘break into’ a niche, however, to exploit the one that I’m already in. Whichever one that may be….

Chris Morris August 4, 2009 at 12:23 am

@Jon Lake – Traffic it is man! :) That’s the life blood of your business. What I need to do is get off my lazy butt and do my first teleseminar and webinar…eh… :D

@Alan – This is another big one. It’s one thing to get traffic to a site but what good is the traffic if you don’t convert it? Good. I will keep posting about conversion techniques.

@Matches Malone – lol…you sound so unsure of yourself. What niche are you currently in Malone?

-Chris

Gavin Pearce August 4, 2009 at 1:06 am

It has to be traffic, Chris.

kevin August 4, 2009 at 1:10 am

Matches Malone August 4, 2009 at 1:12 am

sandi August 4, 2009 at 1:43 am

I have my domain name, & have it hosted, & my site is “live” although I haven’t put any “business” contet on it yet.
I have got myself the Wordpress
“e store” for “checkout / shopping cart”
But my problem is, I can’t figure out how to set up autoresponder to send out “thankyou” page etc, (but I think,, the e store sends one when payment is confirmed? But I just don’t understand the whole setting up of autoresponder??

Graham Price August 4, 2009 at 8:15 am

It has to be blogging for me Chris as is evident from my listed blog :-(

Cheers Graham

Mary August 4, 2009 at 8:41 am

Hi Chris,
Thanks for taking the time to listen to us vent our frustrations. As for me, I have the domain name, the niche and gads of ideas swimming in my head to promote it. What I need is the courage to actually start. I wonder how many others are like me or if I am a lonely dunderhead in this.
What size boot do you wear? lol
Mary

Chris Morris August 4, 2009 at 11:04 am

@Gavin Pearce – No surprise there Gavin, traffic is getting eyeballs to your offer. Good! Thank you!

@kevin – Affiliate marketing is FUN! I love this one :) Ok Kevin Thank you!

@sandi – Hey Sandi, I’d recommend signing up with Aweber once you’re ready. It is what I personally use to stay in contact with all my friends like you! :) Bob has a course called Discover Autoresponders which you may want to look at here: http://www.discoverautoresponders.com/easy/?lessons=6 (That’s my not so cleverly disguised affiliate link).

I love WordPress, it’s great for SEO and ranking purposes so you’re definitely on target. The ‘Thank You’ Page in Aweber is a setting that you will set ( be asked to set ) inside the program that tells Aweber where to send your visitors once they’ve signed up. Hope that helps!

@Kobus – Another vote on Traffic. Thanks Kobus!

@Paul – Traffic and website conversions…Got it.

@bib – Hey bib, we’re all newbies at every level. And a lot of times that small word actually makes us believe that we’re incapable of achieving or doing something. That’s bull. Anyone, and I mean anyone can do this. My wife and I are convinced that I have ADD as well as my oldest son, it’s terrible when I really know I need to consentrate on something and off my mind goes dragging me into a thousand different directions.

I don’t use medication for anything, I’m almost against it unless I’m for sure dying so I really have to force myself to get work done. I also have 5 kids and a beautiful wife so it’s definitely a challange for me. So if “I” can do it…You CAN do it better! :)

We’ll be talking about product creation, traffic, conversion and affiliate marketing bib…don’t worry. You guys are awesome!

@Clint – Great! Traffic and List Building it is.

@Dickie – Frustration of getting traffic Hey Dickie, thanks man! Cool…another vote for traffic! Got it.

@Graham Price – Hey Graham, Nice Care man! :D My good buddy Mike Paetzold is an expert blogger, I can convince him very easily to get on a phone with us and discuss blogging. This guy makes his living on blogs! Get me some questions Graham and I will see what I can do about getting a teleseminar set up with Mike.

@Mary – Hey Mary, Uh oh. I don’t think my wife would like this conversation :) Cool, so you have the domain name and niche and plenty of ideas. Get in touch with me. Believe it or not, this is something that most everyone faces. I face it all the time. The key to defeating it is being held accountable. This literally forces you to not only ‘do it’ but to keep on ‘doing it’ until it is done. If you have ideas Mary I’m all ears…Seriously. We should definitely be addressing this as I know it affects more than just I.

Matches Malone August 4, 2009 at 1:32 pm

Now I feel left out, and that’s the problem :) In reality, I believe my niche to be clean comedy, but how do I sell that online?

Chris Morris August 4, 2009 at 2:37 pm

@Matches Malone – Is there really such thing? :D Just kidding MM. Wow, now honestly this is something that I know nothing about.

I know Harris Fellman did improv and things so maybe I can get some ideas for you from him?

-Chris

Mary August 4, 2009 at 3:58 pm

Chris,
When I mentioned your boot size, I was referring to you nudging me along in my quest to get my site up and running. (haha).
Seriously, thanks loads for the time you have spent listening and answering all of our comments. It means alot!!
Later,
Mary

Chris Morris August 4, 2009 at 4:29 pm

@Mary – Whew…You had me blushing…lol. It’s my pleasure Mary, I’m very happy to do it!

-Chris

Betina August 4, 2009 at 7:51 pm

Driving targeted traffic to my websites! :-)

Chris Morris August 4, 2009 at 9:30 pm

@Betina – Traffic seems to be a big hit so far. Keep em coming guys don’t be shy :D

-Chris

JoShado August 4, 2009 at 11:16 pm

I have to say a toss up between product creation/hot niche identification and list building/blogging(newsletter) to attract the customers, (after you have used up or found that all your best hobbies are covered where do you go from there. How do you appear to be a knowledgeable ‘Mr. Know-it-all’ in an area you know nothing about?

Chris Morris August 4, 2009 at 11:59 pm

@JoShado – You’re not supposed to be ‘Mr. Know-it-all’, I don’t know everything. Plus, it’s better to be considered an expert in one niche / subject rather than a jack of all trades.

Think of it this way. Who would you rather work on your car.

1. Walmart
2. A Certified Neighborhood Mechanic

This may be a crummy example here but you get the point.
